Effective and Natural Powdery Mildew Control

Mildew Control is an all-natural fungicide composed of plant extracts. It is applied to the leaves & soil and is effective against Powdery Mildew and other mildew diseases in the order Erysiphales. These mildews are known to significantly reduce crop yields.

Pests Targeted

  • Effective against Podosphaera fusca, the powdery mildew found on cucumbers, luffas, melons (including watermelons), and squashes (including pumpkins).
  • Effective against Erysiphe necator, the powdery mildew endemic to grapes.
  • Effective against Podosphaera leucotricha, the powdery mildew that affects both apples and pears.
  • Effective against Podosphaera aphanis, the powdery mildew commonly found on rosaceae, such as blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
  • Effective against Oidium lycopersicum, the powdery mildew of tomatoes.

Application

Apply Mildew Control at the beginning of disease onset, mixing 3.8 mL (3/4 tsp.) of product with one gallon (1 gal.) of water to dilute Mildew Control, unless otherwise specified in the table below. It can also be used in other quantities, respecting the dilution rate of 1:2,000 product to water. After dilution, spray the product onto plant leaves. In area applications, use 5.1 oz per acre of land as a foliar spray. Do not apply prior to excessive rains, since this may reduce product effectiveness. Avoid applying product during peak sunlight as oil-based products may cause phytotoxic effects.

Active Ingredients

Mildew Control uses the natural plant extract geraniol as the active ingredient to reach the highest level of efficacy, while greatly reducing the environmental impact of using this product. Geraniol is a fungicide with preventative & curative effects against powdery mildew that deactivates the growth of spores and consequently reverses disease progress.

Safety & Environmental Info

Irritant to skin and eyes; product is composed of natural oils and is non-toxic. Appropriate land management practices should be used at all times with any fungicide; this material should be prevented from entering public or private water supplies (including wells) and any lake, stream, or river.

Mode of Action

Mildew Control has a twofold effect on crops: preventative and curative. It retards spore germination, germ tube growth, and destroys pathogen cells. Geraniol induces an imbalance in levels of the K+ ions inside the mycelium; this also helps to slow spore germination and mycelium proliferation. It enters the pathogen cell causing cell lysis. Mildew Control is most effective when applied before the onset of the disease.
