Chitin-based Metabolism Microbe Inoculant

MetaGrow™ C is a shelf stable microbial inoculant with a very large diverse population of microbes species selected and conditioned for their ability to consume Chitin. C is designed to reset the soil and canopy microbial community or to enhance microbial species diversity for healthier soils and canopies depending on the food source it is combined with. When combined with MetaGrow™ CFOOD or any other Chitin source as a food, C can be used to reset soil or canopy biology in remedial applications when they are out of balance. When combined with MetaGrow™ MFOOD as a food source, C can be used to increase the diversity of the microbial community for a healthier and more resilient (resistant to build up of pathogen populations) soil and plant canopy. In addition to the broad spectrum chitin consuming microbe population (dozens of genus and hundreds of different microbial species in very a high total population count), C also contains organic acids, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes and over 50 different mineral micronutrients.

MetaGrow™ C is unique in that the microbes grown are only supplied with chitin based proteins. Microbes present in C can produce chitinase enzyme to break down chitin as a protein source to grow and reproduce. Applying C with a chitin based food source (MetaGrow™ CFOOD) results a temporary chitin-based food chain change in the metabolism in the soil or canopy. This metabolism change is like you changing your diet for a couple weeks. By temporarily taking the microbiology in this food source driven new metabolic direction, it creates the opportunity to restore and repopulate the soil or canopy biology. While this metabolism persists (peaks in about a week and persists for about a month), the chitinase capable microbes will be generating chitinase enzyme. Once this peak is past, we augment the reset of the soil or canopy biology by restoring the microbial diversity with our other microbial products, e.g. MetaGrow™ ST. Once the microbes have been repopulated and restored to balance and full function, it is much less likely that pathogens will return to an out of balance condition that results in economic damage to the crop.

For improved microbial population diversity, use MetaGrow™ C with MFOOD (0.1lb to 0.2lb per gallon of C) as a food source for the microbes to multiply their population. Use C at a rate of 2 - 5 gallons per acre and 1 to 5 applications a year. To reset a microbial population that is out of balance, use MetaGrow™ C with MetaGrow™ CFOOD (0.1lb to 0.5lb per gallon of C) as a food source for the microbes to multiply their population and the affect at application. For resetting biology, apply C at a rate of 3-5 gallons per acre and 4 to 6 applications one week apart.

MetaGrow™ C clears a 100 mesh (149 micron) filter so it is compatible with most sprayers and irrigation systems. Do not foliarly apply C to wine grapes less than 30 days before harvest.
